Final Score: Memphis- 91, Portland- 78

Last night your Memphis Grizzlies returned to Rip City and the Moda Center to once again take on the Portland Trail Blazers. This is the city and the team that gave our beloved Zach Randolph his start in the league, and he seems to greatly enjoy coming back and playing against them on their home court. This game was no exception, resulting in a season high scoring and rebounding night, as Zbo lead all scorers with 26pts, and 18 rebounds.

By The Numbers:

Overall:
Fastbreak points: MEM- 5, POR- 9
Points in the Paint: MEM- 30, POR- 32
Total Rebounds: MEM- 52, POR- 42

Grizzlies:
Zach Randolph- 26 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists
Marc Gasol- 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists
Mike Conley- 9 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists
Courtney Lee- 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
Jeff Green- 6 points, 6 rebounds
Tony Allen- 8 points, 4 rebounds
Matt Barnes- 3 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals
Mario Chalmers- 10 points, 6 assists, 2 steals
JaMychal Green- 6 points, 5 rebounds

A few things:

1st Quarter weirdness- I’m going with the theory that the first half of the first quarter was actually replaced by some kind of weird basketball vaudevillian slapstick routine. It was just a ridiculous back and forth of no one making shots. Both teams were still in single digits until nearly nine minutes into the quarter. Things picked up quickly in the final three and a half minutes, but it was still not enough for either team to break 20 points. (Memphis- 17, Portland- 15)

Zach Randolph can ball, Zach Randolph is a baller.

In lieu of actual highlights, I feel like we should all just play this video on repeat a few times. Just kidding, I’ll give you a few highlights but you should still totally play that video on repeat anyhow.

Free Throws- We did better, but still not as good as we should have. Jeff Green and Mario Chalmers, I’m looking at y’all.

Low Energy- Oh look, another game where Marc Gasol and Mike Conley looked lost, and slow. I am sure logging the sort of minutes they have been putting in lately is not doing anyone on this team any favors. We supposedly have players to back these guys up, why aren’t we playing them?
